- Vulnerable is a target status required by bonuses that specifically name Vulnerable enemies. Applying it and gaining damage against it are separate steps. Official sources confirm applications through Arcane Exposure, the Serpent Tongue set effect and the Lord of the Crimson Vale minion; they do not provide a universal duration or base damage multiplier here.
Confirmed sources that apply Vulnerable
| Source | Application described | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Sorcerer: Arcane Exposure | Every fourth Strong Attack cast in patch 1.0.2. | The every-N-cast rule counts your own casts, not repeats or minion attacks. |
| Monk: Serpent Tongue, six pieces | The Piercing Lunge air-stream effect applies Vulnerable in the 1.0.1 note. | This is a set interaction, not a claim that every unmodified Piercing Lunge does it. |
| Lord of the Crimson Vale minion | Earth Spikes damages enemies in its field and makes them Vulnerable. | The listed ability cooldown is 12 seconds; that is not a stated debuff duration. |
A bonus against Vulnerable does not apply it
The Black Mist Serrated Greatsword of Agony gives an additional 30% Critical Chance against Vulnerable targets. Its text does not say that the sword applies Vulnerable. The listed version requires level 70 and supports Warrior or Sorcerer.
The Lord of the Crimson Vale makes the distinction especially clear: its Crimson Dominion passive adds 30% damage to Vulnerable enemies, while Earth Spikes is the separate ability that applies the status. Arcane Exposure also combines an application rule with a 150% damage bonus against affected enemies in 1.0.2.
Before stacking these bonuses, identify how your target becomes Vulnerable and whether the status remains active during your important attacks. A damage bonus that names Vulnerable targets should not be treated as unconditional.
Two common sources of outdated advice
Monk’s Chain Force briefly applied Vulnerable after seven basic casts in 1.0.0h. The later 1.0.1 note restored its direct-damage role and made Exposing Strikes a separate talent. Do not combine both versions into a single node.
For Warrior, an October community reply by UwU describes using Heavy Blow with critical hits and Whirlwind to keep enemies Vulnerable. That is an attributed build example. It does not establish a universal application chance for Valiant Strike or guarantee permanent status on every boss.
What is not established
The available official passages identify ways to apply and benefit from Vulnerable, but do not state its complete base effect. A universal damage-taken multiplier, duration, stacking rule or immunity list would be a guess. Use the named source’s own conditions rather than borrowing a definition from another ARPG.
