- There is no verified universal first-drop level or map in this guide. An early build should work with the skills and equipment you already have.
Choose the route that fits what you already own

Silverrend reported finding a Rare rune in an October 2 Steam thread. The official October updates also describe Rare, Legendary Grand and Rune Set runes. These establish that runes exist as loot and items, but they do not establish that only bosses can drop them or that one named zone always unlocks them.
If you have not found your first rune yet
Keep progressing through fights your character can finish reliably. A conversion recipe is not a starting supply: you already need runes to use it. Avoid planning your first functioning build around a specific Grand rune that has not dropped.
When a rune appears, read its Requirements and named ability before changing your setup. Cleave Rune Grand is for Warrior and adds levels to Cleave; Spirit Stream Rune Grand is for Monk and adds levels to Spirit Stream. A high-rarity rune can still be wrong for the character or attack you are using.
Using the Alchemist without wasting a useful rune
The lower conversion tiers are nine Uncommon runes for a 50% chance of one Rare rune, or nine Rare runes for a 15% chance of one Legendary rune. If the roll does not upgrade the rarity, you receive one rune of the input rarity, not your nine ingredients back. Results come from your current character’s usable rune pool.
Keep your useful runes separate
Decide which skill bonuses your present build needs before selecting ingredients.
Confirm the rarity on every ingredient
The recipe requires nine runes of the same rarity. Do not add a prized rune just to complete a batch.
Check the result against your build
Read the ability name, class requirement and attributes; then decide whether to equip, keep or spend it later.
What to do with conflicting unlock advice
A player’s first rune drop does not establish a universal unlock level or an exclusive source. If you compare your experience with another player, match the game version and character mode first, then compare the actual rune and fight they describe.
