- Sacred Judgment offers a reported Lightning route once you have the ability and can sustain repeated casts. Fix Mana interruptions and survival before replacing recovery with more damage.
- Hundred Hands is a separate Furious Fist route with a six-piece payoff. Do not mix its requirements into a Sacred Judgment shopping list.
Build around one main attack
The Sacred Judgment approach is straightforward: use the attack as the centre of a Lightning setup, keep it casting, and add enough defence to survive when control fails. In an October 3 post, dsds0821 described this route around Sacred Judgment, Lightning critical bonuses, health, Dodge and Mana sustain. That is a concrete player loadout to adapt, not a confirmed best Monk build for every boss.
If Sacred Judgment is not yet available, do not strip your current gear to prepare for it. Keep improving the attack you can use. A Monk in the level-30 progression thread reported repeated walls when their weapon fell behind and recommended comparing new weapons, including well-rolled Rare items. The useful lesson is to check the weapon before blaming the entire class.
Fix the gap between casts before stacking more damage
The build’s author used Manaflow Greaves and a Mana-regeneration minion during progression, then later changed to damage-focused leg armour. The author warned that the remaining Mana regeneration still needed to support the skill after that swap. If the change repeatedly empties your Mana, the larger damage bonus is competing with time spent unable to cast.
| Check | Keep or change? |
|---|---|
| Can the current stage feed an on-kill effect? | Separate pack sustain from a boss fight with few kills. |
| Does Mana recover between expensive casts? | Keep enough recovery before replacing sustain gear. |
| Does the new item improve your main attack? | Compare its actual effect rather than upgrading purely for rarity. |
The retained Manaflow Greaves tooltip is explicit: a kill grants 15 Mana Regeneration for four seconds. It does not promise that effect without a kill. The listed Black Mist item requires level 70; it illustrates the effect, not a piece a new Monk can immediately equip. Compare the requirements and wording of the actual version in your inventory.
Spend around the attack, not a copied grid of numbers
For the Sacred Judgment route, the community post focuses on Lightning damage, Lightning critical chance, Strong Attack critical damage and defensive choices. The same post supplies exact talent ranks and a Formless conversion example, but those details are not established for the current client. Use the route to identify relevant nodes; do not assume its old point allocation fits your available tree.
Sacred Judgment Rune (Grand) is a separate skill rune. Its retained tooltip lists +4 ability levels and a Bonus Armor attribute. It is not evidence that you have completed a multi-piece set. Add it to the decision only when it improves the skill you are actually building around.
Keep defence when control wears off
Do not build on the promise of permanent stun. Hotfix 1.0.2a says diminishing returns shorten stun or root duration while preserving the status. That can preserve a status interaction without preserving the full period in which an enemy cannot act. The older Sacred Judgment post’s control-heavy approach still needs health, recovery and protection against the damage that gets through.
Iron Constitution is another named option to examine when it is available: patch 1.0.2 improved its protection after preventing a lethal hit and made the trigger reset equipped ability cooldowns. It is a conditional recovery effect, not immunity to every dangerous hit. Keep that trigger condition in mind when comparing it with an offensive choice.
When Hundred Hands becomes the better question
If your drops are steering you toward Furious Fist instead, treat Hundred Hands as a different build decision. The six-piece effect can trigger a free Golden Palms without knockback, applying Dazed and gaining damage from current Mana. Patch 1.0.2 also made the triggered cast participate in applicable talent and equipment cast effects.
Hundred Hands makes current Mana at the trigger part of the damage calculation. That is a different resource question from sustaining repeated Sacred Judgment casts; compare the two loadouts separately rather than assuming one shared set of priorities. Keep a reliable farm while collecting the required pieces, and switch only when the interaction you are aiming for is active.
