Quick answer
  • Rune Transmute is enabled in hotfix 1.0.2a. At an Alchemist, nine Legendary runes have a 50% chance to produce one random Rune Set rune.
  • Nine Rune Set runes produce one random Rune Set rune. The result fits your current class, but a specific set or missing piece is not promised.

The clearest route: turn spare runes into another roll

Rune Transmute became usable in hotfix 1.0.2a. The recipes were announced in 1.0.2, so an older guide showing the feature does not necessarily mean it was working at the time. Visit an Alchemist with runes you are prepared to spend.

The class restriction is useful, but it is not a wish list. The official recipe selects from runes usable by your current character. It does not let you specify Harvest Moon, a particular numbered component, or a piece you do not already own.

Choose what to spend before you visit the Alchemist

Identify the set you actually want

Read the set name and ability bonuses on your existing pieces. A set built around an attack you do not use may offer less than a useful ordinary rune.

Set aside your working pieces

Keep the runes that make your current build function. Use a separate list of expendable duplicates or unwanted results so a speculative roll does not dismantle your setup.

Use the intended class

Perform the conversion on the character whose rune pool you want. Check the displayed input rarity before committing to the recipe.

Inspect the result before another conversion

Compare its set, class requirement and active bonuses with what you already have. A new rarity is not automatically a useful replacement.

A set piece and a completed set are different rewards

Harvest Moon Rune II is explicitly a Rune Set item with a Warrior requirement. Its tooltip lists separate two-, four- and six-piece effects; the first is Strong Attack Damage. That gives you a practical checkpoint: identify the set bonus you want to activate before sacrificing pieces to another random roll.

Keep a simple checklist by exact set name and component name. Read the explicit Requirements field rather than treating the numeral in a rune name as an unlock level. Compare your equipped components with the bonuses listed on the set tooltip; do not infer a completed set from the number printed in one item name.

Can you farm the pieces instead?

Yes, there are player reports of natural Rune Set drops. In an October 5 Steam discussion, TheSmashedCrab reported receiving two while farming silver bosses. That is a route to investigate if those fights are already reliable for you, not a guaranteed two-piece reward or proof of a fixed drop table.

A sensible split is to keep farming fights that also improve your character, then convert genuinely spare runes. If you need one exact missing piece, repeated random conversions may consume many useful ingredients without producing it. Neither a verified universal farming location nor a guaranteed completion time is established here.
