Quick answer
  • For Steam Market selling, start with an eligible item in the Market sale selector or Steam inventory. In-game auto-sell is a separate way to turn equipment into game gold.
  • Decide whether to keep, use or list the item before consuming a Rein or changing equipment. Read the actual eligibility text and confirmation rather than assuming every valuable drop can be sold.

Choose the kind of sale you mean

For game gold and less clutter, consider Deskrawl’s auto-sell option after its Life Skills unlock. For Steam Wallet funds, you need an eligible Community Market item. Decide which result you want before choosing how to dispose of the drop.

Make the keep-or-sell decision first

Make the keep-or-sell decision before consuming a Rein or changing equipment. In an October 6 Lord of the Cinder Rein discussion, a reply warned that using it removed the ability to sell that item. A separate Divine-weapon socketing question received a warning about modification. Read your item’s current status and warning rather than treating those two examples as a complete binding chart.

Deskrawl’s 1.0.1 patch added confirmation when selling precious tradable runes or commodities, including through Sell All. Read that warning as a decision point. It does not mean Sell All is placing those items on the Steam Market for you.

List an item that Steam marks as eligible

The steps below begin when Steam already offers the item for sale. If it is visible only in your Deskrawl bag, first check the game’s Auction House options and item status. The exact bag-to-Steam transfer sequence remains unconfirmed, so do not assume a game-side button has completed that transfer.

Open the Steam selling route

The Community Market FAQ allows eligible items to be sold from the Market home page or the Steam item inventory. Start there once your item is available to that interface.

Select the exact item

Check its name, version and eligibility text. Steam’s sale selector only displays items that can be sold; if the item is absent, investigate eligibility rather than assuming the listing succeeded.

Review the price and confirmation

Read the price and any displayed fee or proceeds amounts carefully, then complete only the confirmation shown for your listing. Compare the actual result with what you are willing to accept; a price typed into a field is not proof of the amount a completed sale will return.

Check the resulting listing state

An active listing is not a completed sale. Your current listings appear at the top of the Market home page; use the Market history and receipt to confirm an actual transaction.

Use the displayed amounts, not an assumed fee total

Steam’s FAQ says the buyer pays the Steam Transaction Fee and sees it before purchasing. It also lists separate fees for certain other games. Those examples do not establish Deskrawl’s total fee, so use the amounts displayed on the actual listing and confirmation instead of applying another game’s rate.

Market proceeds remain in Steam Wallet. The FAQ says they cannot be withdrawn or transferred to a bank or another Steam account. A listing price is therefore not a cash-out promise.

If it has not sold yet

You can remove an unsold listing from the Market home page before someone purchases it. A market hold is another possibility: it delays availability after the sale listing is created. Check which state Steam shows before changing your price or treating the item as missing.

Keep the item name and listing status while resolving a problem. A successful submission, a listing becoming available and a completed purchase are separate checkpoints.
