- Open Buy Items at the Auction House to browse inside Steam. Check the exact item and its requirements before confirming a purchase with Steam Wallet funds.
- A buy order can remain unfilled. Check Steam Market history before assuming the item has been bought, then investigate its in-game delivery separately.
Start with the Buy Items shortcut
Deskrawl’s Auction House gained a Buy Items button in patch 1.0.0i on October 2. The announcement says both Auction House buttons now open inside Steam. That is the current documented browsing shortcut; older launch replies that send you through a browser predate this change.
The Market uses Steam Wallet funds. Decide which item you want before browsing prices: buying the wrong class rune or equipment you cannot yet wear leaves you with a purchase to sort out, not an immediate upgrade.
Check the item before checking out
| Item | What its official tooltip says | Buying check |
|---|---|---|
| Cleave Rune (Grand) | Class: Warrior | Do not buy it for another class assuming all skill runes are interchangeable. |
| Manaflow Greaves (Black Mist) | Class: All; Required Level: 70 | All-class eligibility does not remove the level requirement. |
| Rein of the Ancient Oak Treant | Permanently unlocks the named minion | Choose it for that unlock, not because the name sounds like equipment. |
Read the full item name and variant on the listing. For equipment, compare the requirements with the character that will use it; for a Rein, check the creature you intend to unlock. Steam’s FAQ states that completed Community Market purchases are final.
Understand the purchase screen
Open the listing or commodity page
Steam’s Buy now button starts a purchase. If the page treats the item as a commodity, you place an order instead of choosing an individual seller’s item.
Review your maximum price and quantity
For a buy order, the entered price is the maximum you are willing to pay. If an eligible cheaper listing is available, the FAQ says you pay that lower price.
Read the confirmation before approving it
Check the total, quantity and displayed fee. Steam shows its transaction fee before purchase. Use the amount quoted for this transaction rather than applying another game’s fee percentage to Deskrawl.
Check whether the order actually filled
If nothing is offered at the requested price, the order can stay active. Your open buy orders can be reviewed or canceled from the Community Market home page.
A larger maximum price does not automatically move you ahead of every waiting buyer. Steam’s detailed FAQ says the oldest matching buy order is selected when several orders can fill a newly listed item.
Confirm the purchase, then check the auctioneer
Use Community Market history to establish whether a transaction completed. Steam makes that history available from the Market home page and Account Details, and sends a receipt by email. An active order is a request to buy, not proof that an item has arrived.
If Steam shows a completed purchase but the item is missing in Deskrawl, check the auctioneer. In an October 1 thread, restarting the game and returning to that NPC was the suggestion the buyer thanked. Treat it as a dated troubleshooting step; the current game-side delivery flow and any waiting time have not been confirmed here.
Do not buy a duplicate simply because the first item is not visible yet. Keep the exact item name and Steam receipt available while you check the transaction and the game’s auction interface.

Market purchases use Steam Wallet funds. Buy now begins the purchase flow. Completed Market purchases should be checked before confirmation. A buy order specifies a maximum; it can fill more cheaply or wait. Review the displayed fee and total before purchase. Open buy orders can be managed on the Market home page. Oldest matching order wins a new listing among eligible orders. Transaction history and receipts distinguish completed purchases from open orders.
