Quick answer
  • Check the carriage filter before treating an empty inventory as proof that nothing dropped. Then separate the item you want, the encounter you are farming and your character mode.
  • Official updates confirm some drop-system changes, but they do not provide a complete Item Find formula or a guaranteed number of runs for a named item.

First check where the loot is going

An empty bag does not necessarily mean that no equipment dropped. In the launch-era filter discussion, players describe buying auto-sell through Life Skills and then changing the carriage settings. Inspect the current setting for the rarity you want before leaving a farm running; an item sold on pickup will not be waiting in your bag.

Do not assume every loot type follows the equipment filter in exactly the same way. Patch 1.0.0i specifically states that Legendary Reins are always picked up regardless of filter settings. That is an explicit rule for Legendary Reins, not proof that all rarities and item types share one collection rule.

What the official changes actually establish

Documented changes and their limits
UpdateWhat changedWhat it does not establish
1.0.0gEquipment drops were changed to give an even chance per equipment slotEvery named item is equally likely, or every run must drop equipment.
1.0.1Rune Set drop rate increased by 40%A 40% absolute chance of finding a set rune.
1.0.2Singleplayer Offline characters receive a buff doubling the drop chance of the listed super-rare categoriesThe probability for a particular item, or items earned while the application is closed.
1.0.2Black Mist drop chance increasedA published numerical rate for Black Mist equipment.

The Singleplayer note names Divine and Black Mist equipment, Legendary and Rune Set runes, and valuable commodities. It describes a character-mode bonus. Keep that separate from offline progress when you close the game; the word “Offline” in this patch note does not supply a closed-client loot rule.

Why Item Find does not give you a run count

The practical effect of Item Find on each category is not established well enough to calculate a named-item probability here. In the Bottomless Potion Belt discussion, one player reports a drop after a much shorter search than the original poster, despite the original poster displaying a higher Item Find value. Neither search is a controlled comparison.

Use a drop listing as a place to investigate, not a countdown to a guaranteed reward. Keep a record of the exact item, stage, difficulty, character mode and relevant bonuses when comparing sessions. A few lucky or unlucky runs cannot tell you whether a modifier stopped working.

Do gems and runes replace equipment drops?

Community explanations conflict. In an October 2 reply, Silverrend suggested that newly available gems and runes affected the equipment pool. In an October 5 reply, the same player described runes and gems as having a separate loot table. These comments do not establish either model. Do not remove useful progression options based on an unverified claim that they dilute your loot.

Diagnose a disappointing farming session

Name the actual target

“More loot” can mean replacement equipment, a particular Legendary, a Rune Set component or a material. Compare the target you need.

Check collection and disposal settings

Inspect the carriage configuration for that rarity and make sure the items you want are not being sold automatically.

Confirm that the run completes

Watch the boss and the rerun transition rather than assuming the same encounter keeps finishing.

Record results before changing difficulty

Keep time, successful clears and desired drops separate. A harder encounter that takes much longer needs its own comparison.

Use the farming-locations guide for documented material sources and bounded player leads. For Item Find and difficulty-specific questions, avoid treating a tooltip bonus, market listing price or isolated drop report as a complete probability table.
