- For leveling, compare EXP gained per minute on stages you can repeat safely. The highest map you can barely clear is not automatically the best farm.
- Players repeatedly report EXP potion buffs disappearing after death. Test a safe repeat stage before spending potions on a progression wall.
Pick an EXP route you can repeat
An October 4 discussion asks whether to farm an on-level boss or the highest cleared stage. Replies favor the highest boss that can be repeated without dying, while another gives the more useful comparison: EXP divided by clear time. These are compatible ideas when the harder boss is both safe and fast.
| What happens in your runs | What to change |
|---|---|
| Comfortable clear, steady EXP | Use it as a baseline before trying a harder route. |
| A harder stage gives more EXP but takes much longer | Compare EXP per minute, including downtime. |
| Deaths interrupt the loop | Step back to a safer stage before using temporary buffs. |
| You outlevel the farming area and gains fall | Compare a later safe map; do not assume the old route remains efficient. |
For example, a hypothetical 30,000 EXP in 3 minutes is 10,000 EXP per minute. A 45,000 EXP clear taking 6 minutes is only 7,500 per minute. Those are worked examples, not measured rewards from Deskrawl.
Do lower-level monsters give less EXP?
Several launch players report reduced EXP when their character is above the map level. One post claims an exact six-level cutoff, while another discussion about fighting higher-level enemies contains contradictory replies. The current level-gap penalty formula remains unconfirmed, so compare the EXP you actually earn rather than planning around that cutoff.
Use the EXP you actually receive on a completed run. Being able to beat much higher-level monsters does not guarantee better EXP per hour, and a penalty affecting experience should not automatically be applied to item drops.
Why an EXP potion may disappear early
A current October 9 thread reports buffs disappearing after 10–15 minutes. A reply points to death, and the original poster says they had used the potions on stages where they sometimes died. Similar reports appear in the October 3 discussion. Death is therefore the first thing to check when the displayed duration seems to end early.
Older reports also mention returning to town and disagree about how the bonus is displayed. That makes “every early disappearance is death” too absolute. Check when the icon vanished: after a death, a town return or another transition. Record that event before assuming the item never worked.
Choose a stable loop
Run the stage without the potion first and make sure occasional deaths are not hiding in the background.
Use the buff deliberately
Confirm the icon appears, then compare a complete timed run with your unbuffed baseline.
If it disappears
Note the last transition and whether the character died. Do not keep consuming replacements without finding the interruption.
EXP advice can become outdated
Version 1.0.2 raised the Mythic Rift tier experience bonus from +1.5% to +3% per tier. A route comparison made before that patch cannot automatically rank Rift experience after it. Keep ordinary-map and Rift results separate.
The practical leveling loop is straightforward: choose a safe farm, compare its rate with the next viable option, and spend upgrades on the reason progress is stalled. A higher level is useful, but gear, mana and survival can still decide whether the next boss falls.
