- Unlocking the combat-potion slot in Life Skills does not place it on the main combat bar; look in Combat Settings.
- Launch players report that one combat potion and one utility potion can be active together. Read the category on each potion.
- If a timed buff disappears early, check whether the character died before using another potion.
Where is the combat-potion slot?
Look in Combat Settings after unlocking the relevant Life Skills node. A launch-week answer directs players to this panel with C and tells them to equip potions from the Alchemist. The slot is easy to miss if you are looking only beside the combat abilities.
A separate launch FAQ describes dragging the consumable from the bag into the unlocked auto-trigger slot. Check that the item is a combat potion before assigning it; unlocking a slot and having a suitable consumable are separate requirements.
Combat and utility are different categories
| Category | Example reported by players | How to think about the choice |
|---|---|---|
| Combat | Attack Speed potion | Use a combat benefit that supports the attack pattern you are using. |
| Utility | Movement Speed or experience potion | Choose the resource or travel benefit that suits the run. |
The answer to a September 30 stacking question was one utility potion plus one combat potion. That is the reported full-game category limit, not a reason to consume several potions of one category and expect all their buffs to remain. Check each tooltip rather than identifying the category only by the bottle’s colour.
Keep the distinction clear when comparing advice. A movement-speed suggestion and an attack-speed suggestion may occupy different categories, so they are not necessarily competing for the same purpose.
Check the buff before spending another bottle
Players in October reported potion effects ending on death, even when the advertised duration had not elapsed. If you revive without the expected buff, that is the first explanation to check. An October discussion also describes automatic use continuing until the supply runs out.
For a safer farming setup, choose an encounter your character can finish reliably, then watch a few repetitions before leaving it unattended. Repeated deaths can turn a useful buff into a fast drain on crafted supplies.
To inspect remaining duration, an October 4 player reply recommends hovering over the potion effect. Use the displayed timer to distinguish a running buff from a missing one before manually consuming another bottle.
If the setup still looks wrong
- Slot missing: check the relevant Life Skills unlock, then reopen Combat Settings.
- Potion will not fit: recheck its combat or utility category and that it is in the bag.
- Buff missing early: check for a death or an exhausted auto-use supply.
- Unexpected repeated consumption: note the potion, category and what happened during the run before assuming it is normal behaviour.
If a potion is consumed again while its effect still appears active, capture the item name, its remaining timer and your auto-use settings. That separates a repeatable consumption problem from a buff lost during a death, and gives a bug report something concrete to show.
