- The Black Mist tooltip grants 1% Armor for 5 seconds per Ability hit, with a maximum of 100 stacks.
- The item lists all classes, item level 850 and required level 70.
- A large Armor bonus is not the same as an equal percentage of damage reduction.
What the gauntlets actually grant
| Property | Documented value |
|---|---|
| Trigger | Each Ability hit |
| Bonus | 1% Armor |
| Duration | 5 seconds |
| Stack limit | 100 |
| Class requirement | All |
| Item level / required level | 850 / 70 |
The bonus is to Armor. The item description does not say you become immune at the stack cap, nor does it provide a formula converting Armor into final damage taken. Do not treat “100 stacks” as “100% damage reduction.”
Build around hits, not the tooltip ceiling
Repeated ability hits make these gloves worth considering for a fast-hitting build. A community Whirlwind build recommends them for that reason. Treat that as a build suggestion: it does not establish how quickly your own character will reach the cap.
Pay attention to the encounters where you need protection. If movement or downtime keeps you from hitting enemies, the five-second duration matters more than the impressive cap. The tooltip does not explain whether a new hit refreshes every stack or only adds a new one.
The item says Ability hit. It does not list every damage source that counts for that trigger. A passive damage tick or another secondary effect should not be added to a stack-rate calculation without checking it.
Do older low-level glove builds still apply?
July demo loadouts mention Ancient Unstoppable Gauntlets at level 25, and another demo reply describes the same Armor-stacking idea. Those are historical versions. The documented Black Mist gloves here require level 70; a demo equipment list cannot change that requirement.
Use old build combinations as something to investigate, not a promise of the same current Armor total or kill time. If you are comparing a different version of the gloves, read that item’s own tooltip rather than assigning it the Black Mist requirements.
When to keep or replace them
Keep them in consideration if repeated hits are central to your build and Armor is the defensive stat you need. Compare another pair if you struggle before the effect builds, cannot keep attacking, or need a different kind of protection. Judge the actual fight rather than the maximum stack number.
Lady Shadow can configure the Black Mist item’s attributes, according to its description. Compare the attributes on your actual pair as well as the named Armor effect. A guaranteed boss or farming route for these gloves has not been confirmed.
